Accountable for: Staff and resources of the OPDC
Job Purpose
- To be accountable for the successful delivery of the comprehensive Old Oak and Park Royal regeneration scheme.
- To ensure the corporation has the human, financial and other resources to ensure the success of its business.
- To provide strong, effective and visible corporate leadership to the OPDC team.
- To ensure the organisation is administered and governed to the highest standards of probity, performance and accountability, and fully meets its statutory and public sector governance responsibilities.
- To influence, advocate and collaborate with key partners and stakeholders to drive the corporation’s mission and projects to successful outcomes.
Principal Accountabilities
Leading and Managing the Organisation
- Motivate and direct the corporation’s staff team and ensure that the corporation’s ambitions, programmes and processes are supported by a high calibre professional senior leadership team.
- Provide visible personal leadership across the organisation, establishing a culture of continual development and improvement that motivates and supports staff to deliver the organisation’s objectives.
- Take personal responsibility for ensuring a well-defined and embedded culture of inclusiveness, equity and diversity, both internally and externally.
- Produce, implement and regularly review OPDC’s corporate plan, management plan and delivery plans.
Governance
- Provide full support to the Board, the Chair, the GLA and the Mayor, including accurate, regular reports and updates on all matters relevant to the Board’s responsibilities and the organisation’s business objectives and targets, including comprehensive reporting of risk and financial performance.
- Ensure the corporation operates to the highest standards of probity, and with full transparency in accordance with legislative requirements, and the mayor’s policies.
- Proactively manage relationships with the Mayor’s Office, GLA, London Assembly, TfL and other GLA Group bodies to deliver the mayor’s vision and OPDC’s strategy, and support collaborative arrangements across the GLA group to support this.
- Ensure the corporation operates a high-performance Local Planning Authority function with appropriate governance and operational arrangements and safeguards in place to manage the agency’s joint delivery and planning responsibilities.
Advocacy and communications
- Take a lead role in promoting and advocating for OPDC’s interests and reputation at the most senior levels and across sectors, identifying areas for influence, leverage and partnership.
- Identify, build and manage effective relationships with delivery partners and stakeholders across the boroughs, government, private sector, community and business sectors to promote the OPDC and harness support for delivering its strategies and objectives.
- Take the lead role as OPDC’s spokesperson and public figurehead, actively seeking opportunities to advocate, explain and if necessary, defend the corporation in public and private forums and the media.
